Alistair Darling has snubbed Cheryl Cole by saying that he does not find her attractive.
The Treasury boss confessed that he is more interested in balancing the budget than in vital statistics.
Darling confessed that he is unmoved by the charms of the Geordie lass and said that he preferred Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson.
When asked if he fancied The X Factor judge, he said: "No, I don't."
The Chancellor then told reporters that he admired Scarlett and he described her as "very nice looking".
He told GQ magazine: "Lots of older men live in hope that some gorgeous woman will come up to them in a bar.
"Who the hell is going to speak to me in a bar?"
Mr Darling also confessed that he was never received any fan mail at number 11 Downing Street.
However, he admitted that he has opened lots of "hate mail" from angry members of the public over the banking fiasco.

Liev Schreiber struggles to focus on his lines before each performance ofBroadway play A View From The Bridge - because lusty teenage boys often use the hushed silence to express their undying love for his co-star Scarlett Johansson.
The pair is currently starring in the Arthur Miller classic on the New York stage, but Schreiber admits his concentration is frequently broken as he prepares for curtain up each night.
He says, "We had a bunch of high school students (at the show one night) and high school students can get a bit rowdy. I remember standing backstage, waiting to go on. The lights dimmed down some 13 year old - and this is something that happens a lot when you star in a play with Scarlett Johansson - he yells out, 'I love you Scarlett, you're so sexy!' This is areally heavy, dramatic play, this is Arthur Miller, A View From The Bridge!"

The actress and singer writes a letter to Congress urging support for the Healthy School Meals Act.
The Healthy School Meals Act of 2010, introduced by Rep. Jared Polis of Colorado, has one very famous supporter. Scarlett Johansson has written a letter to Congress, urging them to support H.R. 4870, which will reward school districts that offer healthier meal options.
According to this release from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), the actress and singer's letter is part of the PCRM's campaign "to ask Congress to provide students low-fat plant-based meals through the reauthorization of the federal Child Nutrition Act, which helps shape the school breakfasts and lunches served to 30 million children."
