SCARLETT JOHANSSON is battling with her own self-confidence to take on the role of a bloodthirsty gladiatrix - because she isn't sure she "fits the mould" of a warrior woman.
The sexy actress has signed a deal to star in Amazon, the story of a female gladiator in 200 BC who takes on the might of an army after her homeland is destroyed.
But although the star has dealt with guns and fight scenes in her previous big screen adventures, she's apprehensive at the prospect of transforming into a tough-girl action star.
She says, "I think I'm supposed to be a gladiatrix. These film guys are crazy about gladiatrixes. But do I fit the mould? I'm a Danish/Jewish girl from New York.
"I've done weapons training. I've fired all kinds of guns; 9mm semi-automatics, machine guns, shotguns. I've jumped off a 60-foot building. I learnt to ride for The Horse Whisperer. But I've never done a full-on action role.
"I guess I'm still waiting for my Cirque du Soleil moment. It would be fun."

An auburn haired Scarlett Johansson was seen today in Milan, Italy supporting the fierce fashion duo of Dolce & Gabbana who are expanding their empire with their own line of make-up. The collection will include an extensive line of new products including everything from lipsticks to bronzers.
Naturally they picked ScarJo to be the face of the advertising campaign.
Stefano Gabbana said, “We see make-up as another thing for women, like a dress. We worked on the make-up line like we work on a clothing collection.

The last few weeks have been filled with back-and-forth on the “Iron Man 2” movie news front, from stars being added to, subtracted from, or campaigning for roles in the sequel to Marvel’s 2008 blockbuster, to various bits of “Iron Man 2” story and character info randomly popping up around the ‘Net. Scarlett Johansson wants to put her curves to use while she still has them.
The ‘Lost In Translation’ actress revealed she would love to play a brothel-running-madam before age hits her at the wrong places.
“Every actor wants to work on a Western. I would run a brothel, like a madam or something. I’m working with what I’ve got,” the Sun quoted her as saying.
“It’s only so long that people are going to want to see me in a corset. So I might as well do it now,” she added.
